Dr Connor Bayly-Jones, PhD

Connor Bayly-Jones (He/Him) is a Developmental Geneticist at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and is a proud member of the trans community. Connor completed his PhD at Monash University in 2023 where he studied disease modelling in Zebrafish. During his PhD, Connor contributed heavily to diversity and inclusion efforts within the School of Biology, part of which involved a major redesign of course content to ensure the use inclusive language and examples. Connor now works at PeterMac investigating lymphatic disease, and is a member of the PeterMac Pride Committee where he works to advocate for the wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ staff and patients (e.g. via event organising, hospital policy change, visibility, and teaching). Through this role, Connor has designed and delivered multiple teaching workshops across the hospital regarding the use of inclusive language surrounding sex and gender. During 2025 and early 2026, Connor was a part of a working group that designed and implemented a new set of guidelines for the Consideration of Sex and Gender in Research, and he is currently a member of the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) Lived Experience Advisory Panel for 2026.
