Dr Sarah Haynes, MD, DPhil

Dr Sarah Haynes is an Australian medical doctor, Rhodes Scholar and researcher with an interest in women’s health and sex and gender equity in healthcare. She has defended her DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford’s Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health, where her research focused on the assessment and management of iron deficiency and anaemia in pregnancy and the postpartum period. Her work has included evidence synthesis, clinical trial analyses and implementation research across the United Kingdom and India. She has also contributed to Australian consensus guideline development on iron deficiency. Sarah is particularly interested in how sex, gender and pregnancy physiology influence the generation and interpretation of clinical evidence, and how these factors are reflected in clinical guidelines and healthcare delivery. She has clinical experience across metropolitan and regional Australia and plans to continue combining clinical practice in obstetrics and gynaecology with research in women’s health.
