Miss Maria Ignacia Allende is a general practitioner from Chile. She completed a Clinical Investigation Fellowship and is currently pursuing a PhD in Medicine at the University of New South Wales. She also works as a research assistant in the Brain Health team at The George Institute for Global Health. She has conducted studies in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), utilizing both quantitative and mixed-methods approaches. Her work includes addressing implementation barriers for evidence-based interventions in Latin America and investigating sex and gender inequities among stroke patients in Chile. Her current thesis explores gender and sex inequalities in stroke diagnosis and access to care in low resource settings.
